I was just 14. The family big boss winded up somewhere else with this young woman who we refer to as the homewrecker. Had my 1st and 2nd sisters stopped from pursuing college degree. Had my 3rd sister getting some psychological problems and eventually had her losing her scholarship and stopped school. Had my younger brother, our cousin who big boss adopted, engaging into smoking and drinking. And worst, I had a mother who was crying for this man who she thought would live with her till death. All the memories she has at the mouth of that church, down the aisle, and even in the front of the altar have rapidly been washed away by the weakness of our big boss, and by the charm of that young woman. Nonetheless, mother has moved on, and that was 5 years ago, almost.

She was just housekeeping before. But after all, she engaged into politics, currently being the second councilor in our barrio. She does gardening today as her sideline so as to ensure that we have something to eat when she comes home. I coudn’t imagine how industrious she was, before the havoc made by the homewrecker. She has been our mother and father, at all terms. Yet, the industry could have been not enough to continue my scholarship at UP Tacloban . Eventually, I winds up somewhere today.

I turned 18 the 10th of June just this year. I thought I can decide for myself. I can do what I want to do and I have thought that I am capable of being independent. I wanted to pursue my college studies and if I don’t find scholarship to do it then I think I will be dealing by self-support means. I wanted to help my mother, as well as my insolent, brother-cousin. I am thinking that since I am not scholling at all, then I can look for something that can produce me money and do all those I needed to do. Those were the reasons why I finally decided to send myself to Cebu and find myself here. Right now, I live in my uncle’s home. I mean together with his family.

I arrived in Talisay City the 2nd of August. Yes, in Talisay City! Everything sounded fine I guess. Later days of August, I got the opportunity to meet a cousin in my big boss’ side. He has been working as a call center agent in a Technical Support Department for over 2 years now. He has gotten me applying as a customer care representative in a call center nearby his. And Voila! Thanks to him! I got in and it’s going to be my first day as an official employee since I’ve just signed the contract the other day. Hmm.. Imagine? I’m just 18 and now, I’m working!!

Finally, I will end this post by the beginning of every calls I receive every not and then….

God! I’m just 18. Please do not forget about my and my future…
